How can I change my MIT Kerberos account password on Athena?

To change your password on Athena, use the following command:

joeuser@athena:~$ passwd

This will ask you for your old password, and ask you to type in the new password twice. Your new password takes effect immediately. (If you want to exit without changing your password, press Ctrl-c.)

You may also change your password using a web browser at http://wserv.mit.edu/cpw.

If you are on a Mac or Windows machine, and have the MIT Kerberos Utilies installed, you may change your password using that utility. For more information on this method, please contact the Computing Help Desk at x3-1101 or helpdesk@mit.edu

If you have forgotten your password, please see our article: What should I do if I cannot remember my Kerberos password?
