From: Server Operations To: Users scheduled for deactivation Reply-to: accounts@mit.edu Subject: MIT account deactivation [ Please note - this is not a "phishing" attack. You can confirm I am an MIT IS&T employee in the MIT directory, and reach me by telephone if you wish to confirm. ] This is to remind you that your MIT computer account, user@mit.edu, is scheduled for deactivation on or shortly after January 20, 2010. When this occurs, you will no longer be able to receive email at your mit.edu email address, and any email forwarding in effect from your mit.edu address to another email address will no longer take place. Additionally, if you are a student, any personal machines listed in your name will stop working on the MIT network. Please see http://web.mit.edu/deactivate for answers to common questions regarding this process. If you are currently enrolled in classes, are currently MIT Faculty or Staff, or are working with an MIT Faculty or Staff member on a project that requires the use of Athena, please contact Athena User Accounts by calling 253-1325 or sending mail to accounts@mit.edu. Please note that when your account is deactivated, the contents of your AFS home directory and your IMAP email become inaccessible to you, but are not immediately lost. Your account can be easily returned to active status if you again become an MIT student or staff member within one year of your account being deactivated, and your files and email will be made accessible to you again. However, we strongly encourage you to back up your email and the contents of your AFS home directory prior to your account being deactivated.
