Q: VPN and IEEE Access

I can't get to full text in IEEExplore using VPN. Why not?

Answer

The Libraries have had some problems with excessive downloading from IEEExplore, and as a result have added some restrictions to our VPN access. Now you'll need to access it through our proxy server, which will check your certificates and then let you in. To do that, you can find the database through Vera, or just access it directly using the shortcut URL we've set up:
http://libraries.mit.edu/get/ieee.

Unfortunately, this means you won't be able to access the database just by going directly to ieee.org, even with VPN. There are several other options to get remote access, however.
