While helping a user send a large file (> 3 GB) to someone off campus, I recently came across FileSender, a free tool provided by Internet2. After authenticating via TouchStone, you just upload the file, enter a list of recipients, message and expiration date, and the system takes care of the rest. Though you must authenticate to upload a file, anyone with a valid email address can receive one. You can access FileSender at https://filesender.internet2.edu. On campus speeds have been fast, and we're already using it in our lab.
According to their documentation, one can include up to 100 email addresses, files can be as large as 9.77 TB, and they can be active for up to 14 days. To share multiple files, you'd first have to create some sort of archive as FileSender only supports one file per submission.
