Windows 7 - Set Up Your Machine For Wireless Network

IS&T recommends using MIT SECURE instead of the regular MIT wireless networks unless your network card, operating system or device does not support the WPA2 Enterprise security method. The MIT network will eventually be phased out. How to connect to MIT SECURE wireless.
  1. From the Start menu, choose Control Panel,
  2. Click Network and Internet.
  3. Under Network and Sharing Center, click Connect to a network.
    Result: Either a "Currently connected to:" or "Not connected" window opens, showing which connections are available.
  4. Select the network you would like to connect to.
  5. Click Connect.
  6. If required, enter a username and password, and click OK.
  7. After a moment, the Set Network Location window may open, depending on the network selected.
  8. If so, click Public Network.
    Result: The Set Network Location window displays information about the location type.
  9. Click Close.
  10. In the bottom right-hand corner of your screen, you can click the wireless network icon Wireless network icon to see which network you are connected to, and to disconnect and reconnect as needed.
