Unity Voicemail Set up

Overview

This guide shows you how to:

• record your name
• record or change your greeting
• retrieve your messages from your phone

Set up your voicemail account via telephone

The following instructions take you through the process for setting up your voicemail account for the first time. Please follow these instructions carefully while dialing into your voice mailbox because the Unity system will lock you out after three unsuccessful login attempts.

Your Unity ID is your ten digit MIT telephone number.

Setting Up Your Mailbox
After dialing into your mailbox, follow the pre-recorded system instructions to:
• record your name
• record a greeting

Be sure to complete each procedure before hanging up, or your changes will not be saved. To start over, dial into the system again and follow the prompts.

After initial setup, you can go back and change your setup information at any time by following the instructions above.

Dial in Instructions for Calling from Your Desk Phone

To dial into your mailbox from your work phone:
1. Dial 3-0000
2. When prompted enter your PIN and press #
3. Follow the prompts to record your name and record your greeting

Dial in Instructions for Calling from an Outside Number

1. Call the Unity voicemail access number at 617-253-0000
2. When you hear the main greeting, press *
3. When prompted for your ID enter your ten digit MIT telephone number and press #
4. When prompted enter your PIN and press #

Follow the prompts to record your name and record your greeting.

Retrieving Your Messages by Phone
Call your Voice Mailbox by dialing 3-0000 on campus or 617-253-0000 off campus and enter your 10-digit telephone number and PIN. (If you are calling from off campus, you will need to press * at the opening greeting).

Listening to new messages
1. Press 1 and follow playback instructions

Review Saved Messages
2. Press 3 and follow playback instructions

Deleting messages
When you delete a voicemail message from the telephone the message will be removed
• Removed from new messages in voicemail but be available in old messages under deleted messages via the telephone.

Dial 3-0000 on campus, enter PIN

Use these keys at any time:
* = Cancel or Backup
0 = Help

Use these keys while in the Main Menu:
1 = Hear new messages
3 = Review old messages
4 = Send a message
9 = Change setup options
9-1-1 = Change greetings
9-1-2 = Turn on/off alternate greeting
9-2-3 = Choose full or brief menus
9-3-1 = Change Unity PIN
9-3-2 = Change recorded name
0 = Help

Use these keys while listening to a message:
1 = Repeat message
2 = Rewind (5 seconds)
3 = Fast-Forward (5 seconds)
4 = Slow message down
#4 = Pause/Resume
5 = Skip and play message properties
6 = Speed message up
#6 = Skip and mark as new message
7 = Delete message
8 = Skip and reply to subscriber
#82 = Skip and reply to all subscribers
#84 = Skip and call subscriber
#86 = Skip and forward message
9 = Save message
# = Fast-forward to end of message
## = Skip and save as is
0 = Help

Use these keys after listening to a message:
1 = Repeat message
2 = Rewind (5 seconds)
3 = Mark as new message
42 = Reply to all
44 = Call the subscriber
5 = Play message properties
6 = Forward message
7 = Delete message
8 = Reply
9 = Save message
# = Save as is
0 = Help
