MITvoip Identifying Your Phone's Model

On this page:

Overview

IS&T currently offers desk phones (Polycom SoundPoint IP 550, 650, VVX401 and VVX601) and conference phones (Polycom SoundStation IP 6000, and 7000).

To identify your phone's model, look for a sticker on the back with a MODEL: make and number (e.g., MODEL: SoundPointIP 550 SIP). If you can't find the sticker, compare your phone to the images below to identify your model.

Desk Models: Polycom SoundPoint IP Phones

650: Six line keys to the left of the display and four soft keys below. May have Expansion Module attached on right.

550: Four line keys to the left of the display and four soft keys below.

Expansion Module (Side Car): May be attached to 650 desk phones

VVX401 Has a color screen with four soft keys underneath.

VVX601 Has a color touch screen and video capabilities.

Conference Room Models: Polycom SoundStation IP Phones

Polycom SoundStation IP 6000: Speaker phone found in conference rooms
Note: Some MIT conference room phones are very similar in appearance to the model shown but are actually analog phones, not VoIP. The Polycom SoundStation IP phones have their model number written in white on the top of the phone. If your conference phone doesn't have this mark, it might be the analog model, the Polycom SoundStation2.

Polycom SoundStation IP 7000: Speaker phone found in larger conference rooms.
