MITvoip Broadsoft Cloud Portal Options Glossary

Overview

The Broadsoft portal allows you to configure the settings for your MITvoip Broadsoft Cloud account. Login with Touchstone Authentication to get started.

Using

All the portal pages have built-in context-sensitive help that describes how to use each feature. Click on the Help link at the top of the screen to open it.

  • Call Controls and Settings broadsoft.mit.edu
    • Profile

      • Profile - View your profile information. Some of this information can be edited in your Account Details. Other information is managed by administrators.
      • Addresses - View your phone number and other identities that are used to make and receive calls. This information is managed by administrators.
      • Announcement Repository - Manage your audio and video announcements such as your voicemail greeting.
      • Passwords - Change your portal password. As we use Touchstone authentication, you don't need to use a portal password.
      • Schedules - Add or manage your schedules. These schedules can be used by "Sequential Ringing" and "Call Forwarding Selective".
      • Call Policies - Choose how caller ID information is passed to the caller for forwarded calls.
      • Device Policies - Enable or disable Call Decline functionality here.
      • Privacy - This setting is managed by administrators and cannot be accessed by users.
    • Incoming Calls

      Options indicate if they are currently enabled for your account by the on or off status listed next to them.
      • Anonymous Rejection - You can turn on/off automatic rejection of anonymous calls.
      • Call Forwarding Always - You can turn on/off call forwarding and select if you'd like your desk phone to ring even if your calls are forwarded.
      • Call Forwarding Busy - You can turn on/off call forwarding for when your line is already in use.
      • Call Forwarding No Answer - You can turn on/off call forwarding for when your line is not answered and define how many times your desk phone rings is a no answer.
      • Call Forwarding Not Reachable - You can turn on/off call forwarding for if your phone can not be reached. This could happen for many reasons including your desk phone being unplugged, a power outage at your office or a cell phone you've forwarded to is turned off or does not have service.
      • Call Notify - You can receive email notifications when you are called and customize them by specific callers, groups of callers, during specific time periods and more.
      • Do Not Disturb - You can turn on/off sending calls directly to voicemail with or without ringing your phone.
      • External Calling Line ID Delivery - Turn on/off display of caller ID information for callers outside MIT.
      • Internal Calling Line ID Delivery - Turn on/off display of caller ID information for callers inside MIT.
      • Call Forwarding Selective - Customize your call forwarding to only forward calls from specific callers, during specific time periods and more.
      • Call Me Now - A reverse click-to-dial option that allows a user to click on a web-based link or icon, enter their own phone number, and immediately have a call be initiated from MIT to the number entered, at no cost to the user.
      • Selective Acceptance - Allows you to receive calls only from specified numbers and/or at specified times.
      • Selective Rejection - Allows you to reject calls from specified numbers and/or at specified times.
      • Sequential Ring - Allows you to set up a ringing sequence that sequentially rings up to 5 different numbers a specified number of rings. You can also specify when this service is enabled.
      • Simultaneous Ring Personal - Allows your phone to ring multiple devices at once. You can also specify when this service is enabled.
    • Outgoing Calls

      • Line ID Blocking - You can block your caller ID information from being sent when making external calls.
      • Personal Phone List - Create your personal phone list here for click to dial enabled devices.
    • Call Control

      • Call Waiting - Turn on/off call waiting.
      • Call Transfer - Turn on/off call transfer recall and determine the number of rings before an unanswered transferred call is returned to your line.
      • N-Way Call - There are no configuration options for this feature. It can be used via your phone or softphone client. See: Feature Access Codes
      • BroadWorks Anywhere - You can configure your phones to call your colleagues from your mobile with their extension, move calls seamlessly from your desk phone to your mobile when you need to take a call home with you, move a call from your mobile to your fixed phone so others can listen in on the speaker phone, and more.
      • Hoteling Guest - Hoteling enables your phone profile of phone number, features, and calling plan to be temporarily loaded onto a shared (host) phone. For more information, see ?Broadsoft's Hoteling
      • Remote Office - Remote Office allows you to use your home phone, your cell phone or even a hotel phone as your business phone.
      • Shared Call Appearance - This setting is managed by administrators and cannot be accessed by users.
    • Calling Plans

      • Incoming Call Plan - Allows you to view the calling plan rules that determine the kind of incoming calls you can recieve. These rules are managed by administrators and can not be edited by users.
      • Outgoing Call Plan - Allows you to view the calling plan rules that determine the kind of outgoing calls you can make. These rules are managed by administrators and can not be edited by users.
      • Outgoing Digit Plan - Allows you to view the rules for what kinds of outgoing calls you can make based on digit patterns. These rules are managed by administrators and can not be edited by users.
    • Client Applications

      • Business Communicator Desktop - Video - There are no configuration options for this feature.
      • Business Communicator Mobile - Video - There are no configuration options for this feature.
      • Business Communicator Tablet - Video - There are no configuration options for this feature.
      • MobileLink - There are no configuration options for this feature.
    • Messaging

      • Aliases - Allows you to enter numbers, which when called from, make your voice messaging box act as if you called from your office phone.
      • Collaborate - Sharing - There are no configuration options for this feature.
      • Distribution Lists - Allows you to create lists of numbers to send bulk voice messages.
      • Greetings - Allows you to use uploaded audio files (in Profile > Announcement Repository) as greetings to use when callers are sent to your voicemail box.
      • Integrated IM&P - This setting is managed by administrators and can not be edited by users.
      • Voice Management - You can configure your voicemail and how you access messages (phone, email or both) here.
      • Voice Portal - Voice Portal allows you to set a Personalized Name (upload an audio file in Profile > Announcement Repository) to use as your name for Auto Attendant and Voice Messaging) and set voice portal auto-login option.
      • Voice Portal Calling - Allows you to originate calls from the Voice Portal when enabled.
    • Collaborate

      • Collaborate Rooms - Manage your collaborate rooms, configure the instant room common settings, add project rooms, and view the bridge to which you are assigned.
    • Utilities

      • Basic Call Logs - Review your recently received, missed, or placed calls here.
      • Device Activation - Displays all the devices supporting activation code onboarding for a user. 
      • Feature Access Codes - Lists the star codes for services you can access from your phone keypad.
      • Push Notification Registrations - Displays which of your mobile applications, such as UC-One Communicator, are registered for push notifications.
      • Registrations - Displays all "devices" (voip phones) that appear on the network and are configured to accept and place calls for your account.

  • Account Details

    • Phone# - Your phone number; not editable.
    • Description - A description of the account. May be a name or description of the line's purpose.
    • Primary Location - Location of the primary physical device associated with the phone.
    • Caller ID - How the phone's information is displayed by caller ID.
    • Account Owners - The primary owner of the phone.
    • Account Administrators - Additional accounts that can administer the phone.
    • Voicemail Enabled - Toggles voicemail on/off.
    • Settings - Determines how voicemail messages are handled.
    • Email - Address voicemail messages are sent to, if enabled.
    • Change Voicemail Passcode - Change your voicemail PIN.
    • Mac Address - Your device's MAC address; not editable.
    • Description - Your device's description; not editable.
    • MWI - Toggles message warning indicator functionality on/off.
    • Associate with a Device - Add a new device to your account. Requires knowledge of the device's MAC address.
