SCCM - Windows 10 or Windows 11 In-place Upgrade

A task sequence exists in SCCM to upgrade a Windows 7 or 8/8.1 (Professional or Enterprise) installation to Windows 10/11.

Deploying the Task Sequence

The task sequence can be found by navigating from the sidebar: Software Library > Operating Systems > Task Sequences > OSD > Upgrade to Windows 10 (or 11) vXXXX

Deploying task sequence from side bar

You can deploy the task sequence in the same manner as you would deploy another piece of software. Simply right-click the task sequence, select Deploy, then step through the wizard, making sure to select the correct target collection.

Working Models

Deploying the Windows 10 or Windows 11 upgrade via MECM is essentially the same as upgrading via USB/DVD. If you've been able to successfully upgrade a model via USB/DVD,  then you should be fairly confident that upgrading via MECM will also be successful.
