There are a variety of loaner and rental laptops available to members of the MIT community, depending on the context, whether you are a student or not, and what you need a laptop for.
IS&T funds a Student Laptop Loaner Program specifically for students who need a laptop for a class or academic work, and are unable to use their personal laptop because it does not meet specific requirements or because they do not have a personal laptop. Laptops are available to students for up to a semester at a time. For more information, program guidelines, and information on how to request a laptop please go to:
MIT Audio Visual, a part of DSL, makes equipment available for rental to MIT staff, faculty, departments, and student organizations. This equipment is available on a daily basis for a fee. For more information and prices please see:
The IS&T Service Desk has a very small number of loaner laptops available specifically for clients whose laptop is being repaired by the Service Desk. Request can be made at the time a laptop is dropped off for repair with the Service Desk in E17-106 (40 Ames Street.)
