FileMaker Pro - Applying Updates
Note: The information on this page is accurate for FileMaker Pro 15 or higher. It does not apply to earlier versions.
Starting with FileMaker Pro 15, the ability to perform in-app updates was rolled out. This feature, accessible via the Help menu with a new option to Check For Updates, is a welcome addition as previously updaters had to be downloaded and installed manually. In situations where users have administrative privileges on their own machines, this option simplifies life and makes updating straightforward.
In environments where software is managed centrally via endpoint management software, however, standalone updater files are still required. Updater files (and release notes) for FileMaker Pro and FileMaker Pro Advanced are available here:
After acquiring any necessary updater file(s), you may then run the update package file on your managed computers using your chosen endpoint management software (FileWave, Jamf, ARD, etc.).
Note: Using the standalone updater may fail if the client application has never previously been opened on the machine prior to the update process. When running the update with endpoint management software, check for workarounds to resolve this issue.
