Create An Apple ID for Your iPad

You'll need a personal Apple ID (not using an MIT email address) to log into your new iPad in order to utilize many Apple services and also purchase apps through the App Store. Please do not use an Apple ID that is shared with other people.

You Already Have An Apple ID

1. Go to http://appleid.apple.com
2. Login with your Apple ID and password to verify that your Apple ID and personal information is correct.
3. Proceed to the section Sign in on your iPad

You already have an Apple ID and know the Apple ID, but you don't remember the associated password.

1. Go to http://iforgot.apple.com
2. Click on the "Reset your password" link
3. Enter your Apple ID and reset your password by selecting the appropriate authentication method.
4. Proceed to the section Sign in on your iPad

You do not already have a personal Apple ID. You will need to create one.

1. Go to Apple's website to create your Apple ID
2. Create an Apple ID using your personal email address, NOT your MIT address. Make sure to use a phone number you have immediate access to, as this will be required for 2-factor authentication.
3. After creating your Apple ID, you'll need to setup a payment method. To do this go into Payment & Shipping and click "Add Payment Method..."
4. For Payment Method, you can simply select  "None" or if you would like to make purchases you can add a debit or credit card.
5. If you've chosen None as your payment type, you'll still need to enter an address. You can enter MIT's main address 77 Massachusetts Avenue Cambridge, MA 02139, USA. Otherwise if you're using a debit or credit card, use the billing address associated with that card.

Sign in on your iPad

1. Open the Settings app.
2. Tap Sign in to your iPad.
   
3. Enter your Apple ID and password.
4. If prompted, enter the six-digit verification code sent to your trusted device or phone number and complete sign in.
