Casper - Installing and updating Adobe Creative Cloud

This article explains how to deploy the Adobe Creative Cloud apps and how to push Creative Cloud updates to client machines that have auto-updates disabled, how to enable auto-updates for admin users, and how to manage out of date licenses.

Deploying the Creative Cloud 2017 Apps

In Casper, there are many packages for Adobe Creative Cloud apps. These packages are named as "EPM Adobe CC 2017-05 <PRODUCTNAME>_Install.pkg.zip". You can deploy all of these to your target machines in Self Service and let users decide which to install, or you can choose to deploy only a subset.

These packages do not install the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop applet by default. This means that auto-updating is disabled, users will not see the Creative Cloud icon in their menu bar, and will not be prompted to log in with their Adobe account. You can install the applet separately if you choose with the "EPM Adobe CC 2017-05 Creative Cloud Desktop Applet_Install.pkg.zip" package in Casper. This will enable Adobe's auto-updating.

Updating licenses

If you previously installed CC 2017 apps before May 2017, they will be running with an older license key. To update to the latest MIT license, you can deploy the "EPM Adobe CC 2017-05 License Updater" package.

All the "2017-05" installers have the new license. Updating the license is only necessary if you installed the apps with older packages.

Deploying updates remotely

Whether you have auto-updates enabled or not, you can still update your Adobe products at your discretion via Casper by using the "Adobe CC Updates (RemoteUpdateManager)" script.

If you need assistance creating policies for the installation packages or update script, please contact the Endpoint Management team at endpointmanagement@mit.edu.

Uninstalling Adobe Creative Cloud Apps

You can uninstall individual Create Cloud apps with their own uninstall package. In Casper, you'll find these right alongside the installers in the packages list, with the naming convention "EPM Adobe CC 2017-05 <PRODUCTNAME>_Uninstall.pkg.zip"

Alternatively, you can uninstall all CC apps at once by using the package called AdobeCCUninstaller.pkg. Please Note: This will uninstall ALL Adobe Creative Cloud products, including any older version (2015, 2014, etc.) that might be installed.
